TVC Deportes is a pay-tv channel from Mexico, owned and operated by PCTV. It was launched on August 11, 2007, as a new alternative for sports enthusiasts who had a cable television subscription in Mexico. The channel’s controversial approach on most of the sports it covered quickly got the attention of sports fans in the country, making their live shows and events widely popular in Mexico.
Over the years, TVC Deportes has been able to air some top-notch sports events from all around the globe. Such events have included football competitions, American football leagues, baseball games, basketball matches, tennis tournaments, wrestling events, and amateur competitions. The channel’s deal with the Mexican Comisión Nacional del Deporte (CONADE) was key to add some of the competitions that see Mexican athletes fighting for medals in the Olympic Games.
Speaking about football, TVC Deportes has mostly focused on airing domestic soccer competitions such as the Liga MX, the Ascenso MX, the Liga MX Femenil, and the Mexican Third Division known as Liga Premier. Leagues from around the world such as the Bundesliga, the Argentine Primera División, or the Major League Soccer, were also aired by this channel. Additional football coverage on this channel has included deals with Arsenal TV, Inter TV, Chelsea TV, and Spurs TV.
TVC Deportes began its with a Standard Definition format. Nonetheless, the channel launched a High Definition feed in November 2016. A downscaled version of this channel is still available for users who have not switched to HD technology.
