Cuatro is a free-to-air channel from Spain. It was founded by Grupo Prisa and is now owned and operated by Mediaset España Comunicación. The channel was launched on November 7, 2005 and it has established itself over the years as a general entertainment channel.
Over the years, Cuatro has covered a wide variety of topics such as news broadcasts, magazine shows, animation shows, TV series, reality shows, documentaries, movies, and more. Cuatro has always aimed its shows to attract young adults to their screen.
Speaking about sports, Cuatro has been able to cover several disciplines, but football has been the main topic of discussion for this network. Via their dedicated sports branch, Cuatro Deportes, the channel has previously aired high profile events such as the UEFA Euro, the UEFA Europa League, and the U-21 UEFA European championship. Added to those events, Cuatro has also held broadcasting rights to the Spanish Super Cup, to the final stages of the Copa del Rey, while also adding La Liga games to the channel’s past.
Cuatro started their with a Standard Definition feed. Nevertheless, the channel launched its HD feed in 2012. Both feeds are still available in Spain in order to facilitate access to all users.
